Disney on Ice / Disneyland Adventure – Sep 29-Oct10
One of the most popular family shows on Earth shall begin its European tour in Istanbul . Disney’s The Incredibles, Alice, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story shall also take part in the show, where the audience shall participate in the Disneyland experience. Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy and Pluto decide that it’s time for a change. They plan to go to Disneyland instead of welcoming visitors. Unfortunately, the “The Evil Maleficent” has other plans.

20th Akbank Jazz Festival - Sep 23-Oct 12, 2010
During 20-day-long festival most prominent jazz musicians will take stage. In addition to concerts, film screenings, workshops, seminars and panel discussions, a special book, a documentary and a compilation album of “20 Years of Akbank Jazz Festival” will be published.Count Basie Orchestra, the Sun Ra Arkestra, John Surman, and Diane Schuur are among the famous names of jazz to perform.

U2 / 360ºTour + Special Guest: Snow Patrol – Sep 06, 2010
The legendary rock group U2 will be performing in Turkey for the first time with 360º Tour! With the support of Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Agency: The biggest event of 2010 and the biggest stadium concert to be held in Turkey. This concert will be the Long-time U2 Show Director Willie Williams has worked again with architect Mark Fisher (ZooTV, PopMart, Elevation and Vertigo), to create an innovative 360º design which affords an unobstructed view for the audience. The first time a band has toured in stadiums with such a unique and original structure (which can be viewed at U2.com). With a cylindrical video system of interlocking LED panels, and a steel structure rising 150 feet from the floor over a massive stage with rotating bridges, the band has truly created a intimate 360º experience for concert goers. The English rock band comes as part of their 8th album, Falling Down a Mountain tour.
Their sound is characterised by the baritone of lead vocalist Stuart A. Staples with orchestral backing, lounge jazz, and soul. Tindersticks augment their instrumentation with Rhodes piano, glockenspiel, vibraphone, violin, trumpet, trombone, clarinet, bassoon, Hammond organ, and many more.

In scope of Akbank Jazz Festival. Diane Schuur is a Grammy-award winning musician who is referred to by her peers and the music press as “the first lady of jazz”, a title previously held by Billie Holiday. Following her birth, as a result of a rare complication, Diane Schuur lost her ability to see. Afterwards the artist is discovered by Stan Getz, while she’s singing “Amazing Grace” at the Monterey Jazz festival. Having released countless albums to date, the artist is awared with 2 Grammys.

Ikuo Hirayama / The Silk Road - My Destiny - 6 Aug - 3 Oct 2010
Ikuo Hirayama, one of the most well known representatives of Japanese-style painting Nihonga, took the Silk Road as the main theme of his paintings and paid several visits to Turkey throughout his more than 100 journeys to this route. Hirayama was appointed as Japan's first Goodwill Ambassador to UNESCO in 1988 and Special Advisor to the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage in 1995. He emphasized the cultural exchange with his visits and research to the Middle East as well as his art focusing on the ancient ruins. The artist passed away in 2009.

Dice Kayek / Istanbul Contrast - Aug 26 - Sep 19 2010
The creators of Dice Kayek, renowned designers Ece and Ayse Ege's exhibition. The modern faces of this city from an opposite angle through 26 different designs, each garment symbolizing a different vision of Istanbul. The exhibition features silhouettes from the Dolmabahçe Palace in a dress adorned with lace and the wrought iron of the Galata Bridge in a jacket entirely embroidered with metal scales. “Dome”, “Dove”, “Turkish Delight”, “Topkapı”, “Tulip”, “Haghia Sofia”, “Caftan” and “Bosphorus” are few of the dresses we can encounter. The exhibition will take place during Istanbul Fashion Week 2010.
