WHERE TO SEARCH FOR WHAT

Several shops and fashion boutiques: Galleria Atakoy, Akmerkez, Capitol, Pabetland, YKM, Çarşı, Carrefour. Modern shopping items and well-known brands from fashion centers of the world.

Fix and Pick: Ulus Pazarı on every Thursday. The largest and the most popular open bazaar in İstanbul consisting of first hand products. You can find almost anything like food stuff, kitchen equipments, chic clothes, shoes, linen, underwear etc. Due to the popularity, it was moved to Arnavutköy slope to relieve traffic in Ulus and there are buses navigating inbetween. In most stalls credit cards are valid.

Authentic bazaars, carpet and kilim workshops: The most well-known shopping center is Kapalıçarşı, The Grand Covered Bazaar. In the same district you may also find rare pieces of Ottoman engravings, silverware, needlework, illuminations, ceramics & tiles, paintings and contemporary art.

Spice: The Spice Bazaar is also in the neighborhood of the Grand Bazaar. Items to be found includes dried fruits, caviar, tea and herbs.

Glass: Paşabahçe

Hand-painted ceramics and porcelain: Kütahya Seramik, Paşabahçe and the İznik Foundation Center in Kuruçeşme. This traditional and beautiful art originates from İznik and Kütahya regions and represents many samples over hundreds of years to international collections.

KEEP IN MIND

Shopping in Turkey is very easy since you can use all major credit cards, if you do not wish to pay cash. Remember: You can always ask for and get a rebate for cash!!!

Many shopkeepers and other staff in retail shops speak English and they are attentive and willing to show and introduce their goods.

Attention to pickpockets! They have increased in numbers in the last few years, even around Nişantaşı and Etiler district.

Be ready to bargain in bazaars. Except for major brands and stores, you can also bargain in terms of payment for many large scale purchases of products and services. Shopping cards such as Advantage Card of HSBC, Bonus Card of Garanti, Axess Card of Akbank and World Card of Yapı Kredi also offer payment opportunities.
